Foundations Development Directorate hosted "Kuantum Sofrası: Bilim, Tat ve Merak Üzerine", bringing together scientific and social perspectives on the dining table in a wide-ranging interdisciplinary conversation.
Prof. Zafer Gedik from the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences and Prof. Zafer Yenal from Sabancı Business School based their presentations on a simple idea: the kitchen as "the small laboratory in our home."The conversation ranged from the quantum-mechanical foundations of a flame on the stove to the historical role of salt and the flavors gradually vanishing from our tables today, reframing food as a phenomenon that reaches far beyond the plate.

Students from Kadıköy Anadolu High School and Hasan Avni Sözen Anadolu High School joined the event through the Ghost Student Program (Hayalet Öğrenci Programı), organized by the Foundations Development Directorate, taking their seats alongside university students and faculty to participate in the conversation firsthand.
The talk has been inspiring for high school students. It offered a thought-provoking perspective that reminded young people in the process of choosing a career of the importance of interdisciplinary thinking, and showed that regardless of the field they choose, they can develop projects around such topics.
